Developers rewarded for both commercially ready and cutting edge location-based solutions

Contestants from Europe, the Middle East, and Africa were challenged to enter applications in the “LBS – Out the Box” Developer Competition.  This Tele Atlas LBS Innovators Series contest had two categories.

Market Ready Category:  For LBS applications that offer consumers a commercially ready, end-to-end solution “out the box”

Disruptive Innovation Category:  For developers thinking “out the box” who have a cutting edge innovative application that will push the boundaries in the LBS market.

Winners from each category were awarded prizes of €20,000 in cash and a license to use Tele Atlas map data valued at €25,000.  Their applications were showcased at the Tele Atlas stand at the Mobile World Congress 2009 in Barcelona.  Four finalists also won development prizes of €8,000.
