Tele Atlas Demonstrates APAC Market Leadership with Expanded Advanced Display Technologies and Innovative Digital Map Content

Additional 3D Content and Address Points Available to Help Enrich Partner Applications

Singapore, CommunicAsia 2008, June 17, 2008 — Tele Atlas (FSE: TA6, EUNV: TA), a leading global provider of digital maps and dynamic content for navigation and location-based solutions, continues to demonstrate commitment to its navigation industry partners with the release of innovative digital map content designed to help enhance their navigation systems and location-based applications. The company today announced availability of new visual content for the Asia Pacific region including more than 300 Tele Atlas® 3D Landmarks throughout the region and Tele Atlas® 2D City Maps encompassing more than 2,000 square kilometres for the downtown areas of major cities, including Singapore and Taipei.

Further demonstrating the company’s commitment to accurate guidance within this region, the company also announced the availability of Tele Atlas® Address Points for 95,000 locations in Singapore (approximately two-thirds of addresses) and 3.3 million locations in Taiwan (approximately 80 percent of addresses). By pinpointing street addresses to a physical building, site or parcel, Tele Atlas Address Points make it easier to connect precise locations to the Tele Atlas digital map database accurately. “For countries with irregular addressing, as is the case in many countries in APAC, our Address Points offer our partners a more reliable way to help consumers arrive at their precise destination,” said Danny Grobben, Tele Atlas Technology Director.

This enhanced content further enriches Tele Atlas’ digital maps for the APAC region, which presently cover 11 countries and territories, including more than 4.5 million kilometers of roads, nearly 1 billion people and more than 4.3 million points of interest (POIs).

“Our digital maps continue to evolve with features that will deliver a more tangible and realistic navigation experience, in both personal and in-car systems, and ultimately improve overall map usability,” added Grobben. “As we extend our 3D capabilities globally, we’re pleased to provide the features our partners require to help enable differentiation of their product offerings across all markets and provide a more visually enhanced, enriched navigation experience for consumers.”

Leveraging highly detailed Tele Atlas 3D landmarks, as well as additional products including elevation models and Tele Atlas 2D City Maps, developers can add recognizable building representations that enhance screen images in in-car and portable navigation systems. Also, the 3D content enables local search applications on mobile devices to more closely match what users actually see in their surroundings. Together, these features combine to help enable the development of applications offering better navigation, regardless of the mode of transportation.

Today, Tele Atlas visual content innovations for APAC digital maps include:

Tele Atlas 3D Landmarks and Tele Atlas Landmark Icons: These landmarks are designed to help drivers and pedestrians better orient themselves in their surroundings. Currently, Tele Atlas offers 3D Landmarks for more than 300 structures in China, Hong Kong, Macau, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand, with images spanning from the Shanghai Stadium in China and the Petronas Twin Towers in Malaysia to the National Museum in Singapore, Taipei 101 in Taiwan and Empire Tower in Thailand. Tele Atlas plans to continue to expand this offering throughout the year to deliver additional landmarks in key regions and cities in APAC.

Tele Atlas Digital Elevation Model: Designed to help deliver an unprecedented level of image quality, the displays now able to show highly realistic landscapes with contours at scales up to 1:50,000. More detailed contours will allow users to see the road network in much greater detail to better orient themselves with a visual experience that depicts geographic elevations. The 3D Elevation Models are currently available for key markets in Asia Pacific. Tele Atlas continues to extending coverage of the Digital Elevation Model around the globe and is working to refine resolution to the point where eventually it can be integrated with advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), further enhancing safety and economy.

Tele Atlas Junction Views: Providing information and descriptions of complex traffic situations such as detailed lane and signpost information, Tele Atlas currently offers more than 1,000 junction views for China, Hong Kong and Macau.

Tele Atlas 2D City Maps: Adding to 2D City Maps in APAC already available for key cities in China, Hong Kong, Macau and Singapore, Tele Atlas also now offers 2D City Maps for Bangkok and the six major cities in Taiwan. Further cities are scheduled to be made available later this year in the APAC region.

Continuing to work closely together with industry partners as well as expanding the Display Technology Center in Shanghai, Tele Atlas plans to produce additional enhancements and innovative visual content designed to help make navigation systems clear and compelling to end users, with the company’s offerings scheduled to expand throughout the year.
